When Simply Getting Through the Day Feels Like Too Much
In the morning, waking up already feels difficult.
Getting out of bed takes immense effort—your body resists. You push yourself anyway, because work or school is waiting and you don’t feel like you have a choice.
As you step into the day, your nervous system is already on high alert. You feel tense around people, scanning for how you’re being perceived. Your chest feels tight, your thoughts race, and no matter how hard you try, you can’t fully calm down.
To cope, you work harder. You strive to be perfect—to perform well, to belong, to prove your worth. From the outside, you look capable and high-functioning. Inside, you feel stressed, frustrated, and insecure.
A small criticism can unravel everything. Your stomach drops. Your chest tightens. Your mind spirals—What did I do wrong? Am I failing? Am I not good enough?
You put everyone else first, anticipating needs, avoiding conflict, holding it all together.
By the end of the day, you’re exhausted—not just tired, but worn down from trying so hard to survive each moment.
You fall into bed knowing you’ll have to do it all again tomorrow, unsure what would happen if you ever stopped.
Maybe you’ve done therapy before — you understand your patterns, but you still don’t feel different.
You’re tired of talking about your trauma over and over..
Only to end up in the same cycles of anxiety, tension, or disconnection.
A Different Way of Healing Trauma in State College, PA: An Integrative, Body-Based, Somatic Approach
Perhaps after years of talk therapy, you might still find yourself:
Shut down or freeze when someone raises their voice
Feel anxious when you set boundaries
Struggle to rest or focus because your nervous system is always “on”
Keep attracting similar relationship dynamics that echo your past
Although your mind knows you are safe, your body hasn’t caught up yet.
Instead of trying to “fix” yourself through more talking or analyzing, we slow down and listen to what your body has been holding.
Together, we’ll start to notice how stress and old pain show up — the tightness in your chest, the lump in your throat, the moments you go numb or shut down.
We’ll get curious instead of critical, helping those parts of you feel safe enough to soften.
Over time, your nervous system begins to learn that it’s okay to rest, to trust, and to let new experiences in.
This work isn’t about pushing harder,
it’s about finally feeling safe enough to heal.
Together,
we go beyond talking about your story
So you can finally begin to feel different
from the inside out.
Imagine a different kind of day
You wake up and notice your body feels steadier. Not perfect—just more present. Getting out of bed doesn’t require the same internal battle, and there’s a little more space in your chest, a little less pressure to rush.
As you move through the day, your nervous system isn’t constantly on guard. You notice moments of calm—small pauses where your shoulders soften and your breath deepens without you forcing it.
Being around people feels more manageable. You’re not scanning as much or bracing for something to go wrong.
You still show up and get things done, but there’s less pressure to be flawless. You don’t replay every interaction. If someone seems disappointed or gives feedback, it lands—but it doesn’t define you. You don’t carry it with you for hours.
You begin to notice your own needs. You pause before saying yes automatically. You feel less responsible for everyone else’s emotions and more anchored in your own.
There’s a growing sense that you don’t have to earn your place by overworking or overgiving.
At the end of the day, your body knows how to settle. You may feel tired—but not depleted.
Rest feels possible. And for the first time in a long while, tomorrow doesn’t feel so overwhelming.
Meet Quỳnh Nguyễn, your trauma and somatic therapist!
You may look calm and capable on the outside,
but inside, you’re tired of carrying the weight of anxiety, depression, or the lingering effects of childhood or relational trauma.
you might feel stuck in patterns of self-criticism, people-pleasing, or emotional numbness, unsure how to truly feel at peace.
As an IFS, somatic therapist, I help adults heal from the past so they can feel safe in the present.
Together, we’ll untangle old survival patterns, quiet the inner critic, and rebuild trust and safety within.
Healing isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about feeling free to be fully human.
I’m here to walk with you as you move from surviving to truly living.

🌱 What to Expect
Your first steps toward healing — gently, steadily, and at your own pace.
-
Start with a 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit.You can share what’s been coming up, ask questions, and get a sense of what working together might feel like — no pressure, just conversation.
-
In our first few sessions, we focus on safety — both emotional and physical.
You don’t need to tell your whole story at once. We’ll move slowly, helping your nervous system begin to settle and building trust in the process.
You’ll start learning simple tools to ground yourself and reconnect with your body’s signals — so therapy feels safe, not overwhelming.
-
Once your system feels steadier, we’ll gently explore the parts of you that carry worry, guilt, or self-criticism.
Using Internal Family Systems (IFS therapy), somatic therapy, and other trauma-informed methods, we’ll help those parts release old burdens and discover what they truly need.
When appropriate, we may integrate EMDR to reprocess painful memories stored in the body.
-
Healing is about more than what happens in session — it’s about how you begin to live and relate differently.
We’ll practice new ways of setting boundaries, calming your body, and trusting your own inner wisdom.
You’ll notice small but meaningful shifts: more calm, more peace, less reactive, clearer directions in life, deeper connection.
-
Some clients continue meeting regularly; others space sessions further apart as they integrate what they’ve learned.
When it feels right, we’ll discuss transitioning out of therapy with clarity and intention — so you leave feeling supported and empowered.
You deserve support that truly meets you where you are.
Schedule a free consultation to explore whether this somatic approach feels right for you.
Together, we’ll take the first step toward healing, calm, and genuine self-connection.

In our first session, we will review intake paperwork together. We will talk about how you are feeling about starting the process, and we will collaborate on what feels important to you. The first few sessions may feel like a bit of story telling to catch me up on your history. I also work intentionally to check in and make sure that our work is still feeling like a good fit for you.
